Two years ago today… Wednesday, Aug 29 2007

Two years ago today I sat in a hotel room glued to the weather reports.

Two years ago today that hotel was completely filled with Louisiana and Mississippi residents running from the storm.

Two years ago today I wondered if I would have a home to take my children back to.

Two years ago today my son developed a fear of storms so strong that he nearly panics every time the wind blows the chimes in the yard around.

Two years ago today my diet went out the window and all the progress I had made started to slip away.

Two years ago today my hometown was washed off the map.

Two years ago today my mother, brother, in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends lost everything they’d ever had.

Two years ago today many of my loved ones were unaccounted for.

Two years ago today people I’d known drowned in their homes.

Two years ago today local, state and federal government agencies failed us.

Two years ago today life changed.

In plenty of time for Halloween Saturday, Aug 25 2007

My friend Sarah wrote a pattern for a fan-freaking-tastic little hat, and I got to test-knit! Candy Corn!!!! Love it, love it, love it. My kids love them, I love them, everyone loves them. Ready to see?

How cute is that??? Want more? How about my munchkins in the hats…

Too cute for words (in my book).

Pattern to be available both on Sarah’s blog, and on Ravelry soon.

Utopia Hat Tuesday, Aug 21 2007

I love me some cables. I’m all about the texture. I have very little interest in doing colorwork. Fair Isle and Intarsia don’t really float my boat. Twists and braids and cables do. So, I give you another hat in a long line of textured hats. The Utopia Hat.

Ta Da!

Purse Gratification Thursday, Aug 9 2007

Holy Hell! Two posts in one day! That’ll never happen again…

Ok, the Noro (purchased at the Quarterstitch)

became a Squatty Sidekick. Kaity’s was so cute, I had to have one of my own.
Pre-Felting:

Post-Felting:

And a button close-up:

Felting by hand bites (I have a front-load washer). Ugh, tired arms. Eventually I just threw it in the dryer and went to bed. It turned out great and I love it and it will match the new shoes I ordered last week perfectly!

Purse Tease Thursday, Aug 9 2007

It’s a FO now, but I can’t get a decent picture until the sun comes out again. Darn those summer afternoon thundershowers! In the meantime…yarn pr0n:

Ravelry Rocks! Sunday, Aug 5 2007

So, I lost many hours this week due to that Ravelry thing. Timesuck, that is. Sit down and start playing around, next thing you know it’s tomorrow. I’m “twitchyknitter” over there (surprise!). Wanna be my friend? Seriously, I now have umpteen more projects on the to-knit list. I’ll never get to them all.

Oooh, ya know what? Someone should make a site just like Ravelry, but for life in general. How awesome would that be? Of course, then I’d be so busy inputting all that data that I’d never actually accomplish any of the things I entered data about. Conundrum, there.

Ah well, back to Ravelry-ing…

Mint Chocolate Purse Thursday, Aug 2 2007

So, my husband suprised me with this yarn:

Totally makes you crave Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream, right? Me too.

I took said yarn and made one of the skeins into this:

and I lined it with an old pillowcase. Thusly:

I’m so proud of me! There was sewing involved and I still manged to pull it off! I’m so tickled.
